With all manufacturing processes, it’s essential that the parts are designed with a manufacturing process in mind. This is your go to guide for Design for Manufacture for 3D Printing
As good design practice, you should always add thickness to your models. Walls with thickness greater than 1.0mm can be successfully printed with all processes.
All parts with an overhang greater than 45º will require support material. Any areas where support will be required, marks will present on the final surface unless post-processed.
Features on the model that are raised or recessed below the model surface. Features with a minimum 0.8mm wide & 2mm high / deep can be successfully printed with all processes.
We recommend a minimum diameter of Ø 2.0mm for 3D printing holes. Ensure this meets your clearance fit requirements.
We recommend for all prints with a height of over 5mm a minimum diameter of Ø 3.0mm for printing pins.
The recommended clearance between two moving or connecting parts is a minimum 0.5mm
